Hello everyone, my name is Yana and I am a third-year student at Jagiellonian University. I am studying an international program - International Relations and Area Studies in English.
After classes with me, you can be sure that you will speak as my main focus is to help people to talk, and you will also have the opportunity to talk to natives. I am using three teaching methods.
The first one is the direct method or in other words “natural approach”. For the direct method, all teaching is done in the target language, translations are not allowed in class, and the focus lies heavily on speaking instead of grammar. Students are supposed to learn the target language naturally and instinctively. Mistakes are corrected as they happen during the class and I can reinforce the correct usage of the language with praise.
The second one is the communicative language teaching method (CLT). CLT emphasizes the students’ ability to communicate in real-life contexts, and students learn to make requests, accept offers, explain things, and express their feelings and preferences. Since CLT focuses on teaching language through real-world assignments and problem-solving, it’s less concerned with grammar accuracy and instead focuses on fluency.
The third one is task-based language learning. Task-based language learning focuses on the completion of a task which in itself is interesting to the learners. Learners use the language they already have to complete the task and there is the little correction of errors.
I am a self-motivated and progress-driven English tutor. With a long-standing record of initiative and innovation, I have developed and executed strategies that I believe will bring value to you.
